OPU SUMMER RESIDENCY
After the successful OPU summer academy of last year, this summer we are excited to collaborate and co-create again!
Are you a university student or recent graduate, or urban enthusiasts passionate about cities, inclusivity, and co-creation?
Join us in Nicosia this summer (06 July – 31 July) for a unique 4-week experience involving design of Urban Furniture, preparations for the Laou Laou Open Streets day, participate in various meetings and workshops, researching and reimagining public spaces, and diverse tactical urbanism initiatives!
This is more than a summer residency — it’s an invitation to shape the urban future of Cyprus, hands-on.

What to do:
During the residency, participants will contribute to a variety of projects and activities, including:
Continue Neighbourhood Planning
Build upon the work initiated during last year’s Summer Academy and contribute to ongoing neighbourhood initiatives.
Design & Build Urban Furniture
Participate in the design and construction of a communal table and contribute to the Urban Furniture Summer 2026 programme.
Laou Laou Open Streets
Help prepare and organise activities for the upcoming Open Streets event.
Research Urban Practices
Investigate inspiring examples of urban planning, tactical urbanism, and public space interventions from around the world, and explore how they can be adapted to Cyprus.
OPU House Activities
Become part of the everyday life of OPU House by assisting with workshops, meetings, and diverse community initiatives.
Explore the City
Participate in bike tours, site visits, and collective explorations throughout Nicosia.
Develop Your Own Projects
Choose individual or collaborative tasks from the OPU Homework and contribute your own ideas and initiatives.

Imagine it as a co-working space where you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience about neighborhood planning, urban commons and tactical urbanism from OPU collective members.
Since summer residency is a volunteer-run initiative we need you to be flexible, both open to collaborate and work independently. We also want your time to be balanced between research, creativity, site visits and beach relaxation.
