Tactical Urbanism in Action
At the heart of Laou Laou’s mission is tactical urbanism; simple, low-cost, and collaborative interventions that bring new life to underused public spaces. These projects respond directly to community needs, creating more shade, seating, and inviting places for relaxation, social connection, and play.
Our latest example is the Construction Week organised by OPU Collective. With the help of our summer residents, participants co-designed and built a series of urban furniture pieces: a modular stage, a movable foldable shading structure, and DIY tables made from reused bricks and wooden boards. Across days of sewing, drilling, gluing, and painting, joined by 25 volunteers, these ideas took shape, showing how collective creativity can transform a neighbourhood.
